Q: When and where do I submit the name for my marine, the design for my officer or captain etc? A: We will provide detailed instructions for the community design process in future updates via Kickstarter

Q: I pledged via PayPal, how will I know about future updates on Kickstarter? A: We will investigate ways to keep PayPal backers in the loop, be it setting up a separate mailing list or similar

Q: How can I stay informed about The Mandate? A: Follow us on twitter @mandategame or via Facebook at www.facebook.com/mandategame

Q: What about physical merchandise? A: We are talking with several merchandise vendors and will select the one we feel delivers the best balance of price and quality

Q: What about physical copies of The Mandate? A: This is a bit early. As we are game developers we do not have the infrastructure or logistics to handle this ourselves. We will investigate distribution partners to help manufacture and distribute physical copies of the game closer to launch. For PayPal and Kickstarter backers we will provide physical copies at very reasonable prices.

Q: Will the higher reward tiers that grant additional copies also include the season pass, alpha access and great captain doc? A: All reward tiers from $150 War Commissioner and above, include a number of digital copies that each are equivalent to $75 Cossack Captain

Q: How will DRM (Digital Rights Management) work for The Mandate? A: We will not use cumbersome DRM. You’ll require a game-key, and there will be the standard Steam services DRM. In addition we have contacted GoG.com and expect to distribute The Mandate via them at release. Since GoG.com only supports Windows and Mac, for Linux users that want a non-DRM alternative to Steam we plan to offer The Mandate via the Humble Store. We will provide more details on DRM closer to launch.

Q: Will donations on BackerKit count towards stretch goals as featured on Kickstarter? A: Yes. If we surpass $800,000 then we will add more extensive mod support. If we surpass $900,000 then we will add "more of everything", e.g. more quests, away mission types, ship sections etc.

Q: What languages will The Mandate support? A: We will localize The Mandate for Russian, German, French, Spanish and Italian. The extent of voice over as well as whether we localize the voice over is to be decided. Voice over is low on our priority list but we will have voice over for major NPCs like Suvarov, Anastasia etc.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.

Why can’t I log into my account?

Request a login link to your survey by entering your email here:

BackerKit will send you an automated email with an invite link to whatever email you pledged with.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

Can I upgrade or get multiple copies of my pledge?

This depends on the project creator’s decision. If you are unable to see the ‘Want to switch your pledge level?’ after clicking on your pledge amount under “Pledge Level” in your survey, then the project creator would prefer people not to switch pledge levels.
